About

Alicia Burris is a certified math teacher with over 30 years of experience working with students of all ages and abilities, specializing in supporting learners with disabilities and differences. She has taught in public, private, and homeschool settings, and is known for her ability to make math accessible and meaningful for every student.

For 12 years, Alicia taught math at the Stern Center for Language and Learning in Vermont, a nationally recognized non-profit organization focused on evidence-based instruction. She later moved to the Charlottesville, Virginia area, where she quickly established herself as a highly respected math tutor. Educational psychologists—including clinicians from the University of Virginia—frequently referred students with diagnosed math learning disabilities to Alicia for specialized instruction.

Now back in Vermont, Alicia continues to provide exceptional, individualized math support to students in the Shelburne area.

Alicia is especially gifted at creating a warm, supportive learning environment where students feel safe to take risks and grow. Her calm, encouraging approach helps learners build confidence and reach their full potential.

Outside the classroom, Alicia enjoys reading, walking, gardening, exploring the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
